Donna Minkley

Dear ANTSHE Member,

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Donna Minkley. I am a wife and mother of four, ranging in age from twenty one to thirteen. For many years I was a full time mom, and a home school teacher. In 1997, I put my children in day school and began working in a local gas station as a cashier. After several years of cashiering I realized I was not living up to my own potential and

enrolled in college.

I began my education at the University of Wisconsin Parkside in 2000. I decided to get involved in the non-traditional student organization mostly for the free printing and coffee but this soon turned into volunteering and event planning. I was the secretary, vice president, and president of the Parkside Adult Student Alliance (PASA).

I think I am the only president to ever last through two full years. As president I attended the Chancellor’s Leadership Institute where I became a certified student leader.  I also spent three years as an orientation leader helping new students understand the structure of the university and advising them on their first class schedule.

In May of 2005 I graduated, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography. I found employment at the Department of Natural Resources and am currently working there and entering a program to become a certified middle school teacher. I know now I am not a cubicle dweller.

I also enjoy music and choir and volunteer for many choir events at my children’s school including Madrigal Feast Parent-Chair for the past six holiday seasons.

I have attended the last 6 ANTSHE conferences and after graduation I was appointed and then elected to the Scholarship Officer position. I have developed a scholarship award system that is mostly quantitative and organized.

I am running for Vice –President because I have enjoyed the last two and a half years in ANTSHE and am ready for some new responsibilities. I would like to conduct a poster campaign that would highlight non-traditional students’ needs and concerns along with ANTSHE. I envision them in hundreds of advising offices all over the country.

Thank you for taking time to read my bio. I hope you will elect me Vice President. I am looking forward to continuing to serve.

Sincerely,

Donna Minkley
