Sherry Rochester Murray -

Hello my name is Sherry Rochester Murray and I reside in Kissimmee Florida. I am a student at Kaplan University in my fourth year; earning my Bachelors degree in Psychology with an emphasis in child development. I was introduced to the ANTSHE association through a wonderful student organization called “OWLS Club.”

For three wonderful years I was privileged to be this clubs President. Over those three years, I have learned leadership skills, how to development and implement projects, contests, events, and  guest speakers, communication and social skills, plus much more but most importantly I also learned how to be a better person through this organization.  I would like to take everything I have learned and move forward to sharing and learning with the ANTSHE association.

I believe in associations and what they have to offer to their members. ANTSHE is an organization that supports, encourages, engages, and listens to the non-traditional student. As a student board member I can share, learn, and help other non-traditional students like myself.

In January, at Capella University, I will begin to pursue my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. If elected as a student board member, I commit to helping ANTSHE continue its successful track in keeping the momentum of moving forward; to continually improve to be an association that non-traditional students can rely on, learn from, network, and find reliable resources. I would like to “thank” those in advance for voting for me this up coming January.

Bio:  In addition to being a wife and mother, Jessica Vickson, is a non-traditional student who is actively involved in helping others students to achieve academic success at her university through peer mentoring, and tutoring.  She returned back to school in 2006 to Clayton State University.  She initially graduated with an office assistant certificate and an office technology certificate.  Then moving on to complete her Associates in Office Administration.  Currently she is working on completion of her degree in Technology Management.

During her time at Clayton State she has been awarded with the 2008 Outstanding Certificate Graduate of the Year Award for 2008 as well as the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (G.O.A.L.) for 2008/2009, representing Clayton State university at the state competition.

Her trip to Italy in 2009 with a group of honor students was a great opportunity for her to experience student culture in another country, and gain  broader worldwide view foreign relations in education and business.

But her time spent with her peers brings her the most academic fulfillment.  She was a volunteer peer tutor during her first year, which morphed into two paid tutoring positions.  The first being the only specialized tutor for the College of Professional Studies.  The second is an on campus peer tutor specializing in working with non-traditional math students and peer mentoring those same students.

In 2009 she created a specialized tutoring group that increased in size each semester by 25 to 30 percent.  Also she developed a workshop entitled “Dealing with Math Anxiety,” for the Center for Academic Success.  After development of the workshop she was then asked to present the workshop to students, allowing her to be the first student at that time to create and present a student workshop for the Center for Academic Success.  She looks forward to working with students in the future and helping them reach their goals.
